Performance Applications (PApps) is a packaged solution from Cognos.  PApps delivers a comprehensive data warehouse with prebuilt Extract Transformation and Load (ETL) scripts from SAP, J.D.Edwards and Oracle.

Superceded but not Dead!!!

IBM Cognos have announced the end of the Performance Application Suite as of December 31st 2009.  Support will continue for an additional 12 months but no further developments will be made to the system.

For those that have PApps installed and have integrated them into there businesses will have to think about the future.  Our customers have faced this dilemma in past months.  Our recommendation has tended to be stick with the solution you have as most of our customers have tailored the applications for their use.  They have also invested a lot of time and effort into writing reports and adding enhancement to the base solution. In effect they now have a Bespoke solution that meets their business needs.

The alternative would be to move to the Analytic Applicationsbut there is no easy way to make this transition.  For new customers the decision is easy, the Analytics Applications provide a rapid solution to creating a fully integrated Data Warehouse together with the latest reporting toolset based on the Adaptive Framework.
