Software Licence Audit

The words software audit can often send shivers down your spine.  Are we under licensed?  Are we using all the software we purchased?  Are we paying annual Support and Subscription for licences we don't use?

Triangle approach the whole issue of licensing  around the IBM Cognos software stack differently.  We're not about selling you new licences;  we're about determining your current IBM Cognos Portfolio and matching this with your current and future requirements.  We can quite often save a company thousands of pounds by cancelling the annual support and subscription on licences not being used.

So how does it work?

Firstly we request authorisation from the client,  to gain access through IBM about your current IBM Cognos software portfolio.  We then present this is an easy to understand way showing the number of licences for each site, sorted by renewal date within site.

We then look at the licences and compare this with your usage which can be obtained by running the Cognos Audit Software on your Cognos Servers.  This will show the number of users and the roles they are entitled to use.  We then compare this with the known licence portfolio and highlight and discrepancies.

We will then work with our client to determine if all the users logged need the functionality they have or whether these can reduced.  This is where we can sometime make savings where a licence can be freed up and possibly terminated saving the support and subscription.  Of course it works both ways and there may be instances where you have users using functionality that they are not licensed for.  Either way our clients will have a comprehensive report giving our recommendations and costs or cost savings involved.

At the same time Triangle will recommend consolidating the support to a single renewal date further simplifying the administration and ensuring the licensing requirements are met.  Our aim is to work in the best interests of our clients and by doing this we find that we foster ongoing long term relationships which become mutually beneficial.
